New FSO web presence

Switzerland’s democracy depends on a shared foundation of transparent and reliable information. As people increasingly rely on AI for answers without always knowing the data behind them, ensuring that official data remains visible, verifiable and accessible to everyone is more important than ever. That is the job of the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) as the Confederation’s data steward. Our new web presence helps us fulfil that role. Without reliable facts to build on, democracies become increasingly vulnerable.

The FSO’s new web presence improves access to its data and statistics and supports a wider range of uses to reflect how they are used today. From the end of October 2026, the FSO will provide information through two dedicated platforms: the official FSO website and the Statistics Switzerland portal. A new navigation, along with improved search and filtering options, will make it easier to find and access information and statistical resources.

Two websites for different needs ‒ finding your way around

The official website provides information about the Federal Statistical Office, its responsibilities and services. Find out who we are, how we work and why our services matter. Access the latest news, contact details and services.

The Swiss Statistics portal provides reliable statistical information and data on Switzerland, organised by topic to help you understand and interpret the results.

What are the improvements?

  • Easy to navigate: A new navigation, clearly structured content and consistent presentation make it easier to find your way around and get directly to the information you need.
  • Easy to search: A revised catalogue and new filters provide easy access to publications, tables, datasets and other statistical content.
  • Easy to use: Improved usability and readability make the websites easier to use on different devices to meet different needs.

What happens to the existing content and links?

  • Existing publications, tables, datasets and other statistical resources will remain available after the migration.
  • Some content from the previous website has been revised, standardised, consolidated or restructured. As a result, you may find it in a different location on the new platforms.
  • Wherever possible, existing links will redirect to the corresponding content on the new platforms. We recommend that you check and update any frequently used links and bookmarks after the migration.
